ARCHIVE,
“If fashion is a “living” phenomenon - contemporary, constantly changing, then a museum of fashion is ipso facto a cemetery for “dead” clothes” - V.Steele 1998
Stepping outside the rapid cyclic nature of the fashion industry Archive is a project in a constant state of evolution. Drawing inspiration from the written works of Valerie Steele and Elizabeth Wilson as well as a broad range of contemporary and historical designers. Linked through a non-traditional approach to flat pattern making each Chapter investigates dress archetypes and signifiers. Resulting in garments which exist between a historical and contemporary body, inviting curiosity through flat - lay presentation. As each Chapter evolves so to dose the research, inspiration and processes involved with the evental goal an archive of investigation and disruption of the semiotics of dress.
